Is Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts tuition-free?

Yes. Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) and Texas School of the Arts (TeSA) are tuition-free public charter schools operated by the nonprofit Texas Center for Arts + Academics. There are no tuition fees, registration fees, or application fees.

What grades does Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts serve?

Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts serves grades 3–12. Texas School of the Arts (TeSA) serves grades K–5, creating a complete K–12 fine-arts education pathway.

How do I apply to TCA+A charter schools?

Applications are accepted during published enrollment windows, with waitlists maintained year-round. The process includes submitting an application, completing an audition in dance, music, theatre, or visual art, and finalizing enrollment paperwork. Visit the admissions page or call 817-766-2390 for specific deadlines.

What fine arts programs does TCA+A offer?

Students receive intensive training in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Art. Each student selects a primary major and receives daily instruction from professional teaching artists.

What is the difference between the charter schools and conservatories?

FWAFA and TeSA are tuition-free public charter schools for full-time students during regular school hours. The Fine Arts Conservatories are separate, fee-based after-school programs open to any child under 18 from any school.

What makes TCA+A different from other schools?

TCA+A uniquely combines rigorous academics with professional-level arts training at no cost. Our Grammy Award-winning Texas Boys Choir, established in 1946, demonstrates our commitment to excellence. Students receive daily instruction in their chosen arts major while maintaining strong academic standards.

Do students need prior arts experience to attend?

No prior professional training is required. Auditions assess artistic potential, passion, and commitment to learning rather than existing skill level. We seek students who demonstrate enthusiasm for the arts and willingness to work hard.

Where are TCA+A schools located?

Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (grades 3-12) is located at 3901 S Hulen St, Fort Worth, TX 76109. Texas School of the Arts (grades K-5) is located at 6025 Village Parkway, Edgecliff Village, TX 76134. Both serve the greater Fort Worth area.
