Audition Requirements and Preparation

We are so excited that you want to audition for FWAFA! It’s never too early to start preparing. The first step is getting familiar with the audition process. Auditions are held in person on the FWAFA campus (3901 S Hulen St, Fort Worth, 76109).

Students auditioning for grades 7-8 have the option to audition in a SECOND area, and the higher score will be used to determine admission. Please note: a second audition is NOT REQUIRED for students auditioning in grades 7-8.

Grades 9-12 audition in ONE of the following disciplines: Choir, Dance, Theatre, and Visual Art. Please note: a second audition is not allowed for grades 9-12.

Auditions for the 25-26 school year will take place in-person, on the FWAFA campus. Students will be scored using the provided rubrics for their chosen artistic discipline(s) and must meet a minimum required score for acceptance. Those who receive adequate scores will either be offered admittance to FWAFA or be placed on the waitlist until an opening becomes available.

Auditioners will not receive audition scores, feedback, or copies of their scoresheets.

Once a student has been admitted to FWAFA, they will be given the opportunity to audition for our premier performing groups (i.e. Children’s Choir of Texas, Singing Girls of Texas, Texas Boys Choir, Academy Dance Company, Academy Dance Company Trainees, Academy Musical Theatre Company, etc.).
