FWAFA Student Life

Opportunities to Learn More

At FWAFA, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. To foster a passion for the arts and enhance student life, we offer numerous activities, clubs, companies, and ensembles.

Students are provided an abundance of occasions and venues to step out of the classroom and apply their lessons through performances or exhibits for the public. FWAFA gives more than 50 performances annually, including the prestigious Subscription Series, which is marketed to the general public. And while the musicians, dancers, and actors get to play on stage, the visual artists frequently exhibit their work both inside and outside the school.

For our dancers, we offer multiple opportunities for all grade levels. Junior Dance Company is open to 4th-6th graders after school and advanced 7th and 8th graders may audition for Academy Dance Company Trainees. Audition only companies also include Academy Dance Company II for 7th -12th grades and Academy Dance Company, which is open to 9th-12th graders. Academy Dance Company and Company II perform in the Dance Company Concert and the spring ballet.

To an aspiring actor, all the world’s a stage. We nurture their passion for performance with the high school musical and play, advanced theater showcase and winter and spring cabaret shows. Additional opportunities to those who audition also include Advanced Theater classes and Middle and High School Musical Theater Companies.

Visual arts students at FWAFA are encouraged to cultivate a personal artistic style while exploring a range of art forms. With an emphasis on open-minded and joyful artistry, our students experience the freedom that allows their talents to blossom in college and beyond. Students begin with Art I, which builds on the knowledge and skills developed in earlier grades, and Art Appreciation. Once these courses are completed, students have the option to take any number of in-depth, advanced studio classes, including drawingpainting, and sculpture.

The FWAFA Experience

With an emphasis on open-minded and joyful artistry, our students experience the freedom that allows their talents to blossom in college and beyond.

The arts teach us to solve complex problems in creative, unique ways. The arts help us explore all subjects in school to reveal their connections and deepen our understanding of the world. Because of the kind of thinking that an arts-rich education requires, FWAFA students are uniquely prepared for college and beyond and equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to reach their fullest potential.
