Singing Girls of Texas history began in 2001, when it was founded as a sister organization to the Grammy award-winning Texas Boys Choir.
Singing Girls of Texas (SGT) is a professional-level women’s choral program with three core ensembles and two community choirs. Girls in SGT’s Training, Chorale, and Tour Choirs attend school and rehearse at our public charter school, Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA). For girls who wish to join the SGT, fundamental training begins in Kindergarten and continues through 6th grade with our community choirs, SGT Preparatory and SGT Apprentice. These students sing with the resident core ensembles to begin developing vocal skills – and get introduced to a wide variety of choral music. Once a girl is accepted into FWAFA, she can audition for SGT Training beginning at 7th grade. As girls grow in their musicianship and self-confidence, they may continue to move through the organization by auditioning for SGT Chorale or SGT Tour Choir beginning in 9th grade, both of which provide further opportunities to learn and perform. The Chorale is an attractive option for students who wish to continue their choir training, but are also interested in other artistic disciplines while the Tour Choir is an advanced performance-based ensemble that gives high-quality concerts in regional, national, and international tours.
The generous support of foundations, corporations, and especially individual donors passionate about the choir allow us to provide and grow these unique musical opportunities. We hope you will join us as a supporting member of Singing Girls of Texas.

Singing Girls of Texas 2009-2015
SGT was a group where I always felt at home and comfortable expressing myself. Through SGT I learned how important sisterhood is and I will carry that with me for the rest of my life.
