Printmaking Exploration

Grades 3-6

Young artists will develop their skills in two-dimensional art through an exploration of monotype and drypoint engraving processes, as well as the combination of both techniques. The student’s experience will include proper use of a printing press and how to mix inks into a color palette, drawing inspiration from nature to create beautiful, unique pieces of art. In addition to focusing on technical skills, students will learn about the history of printmaking, as well as how to develop a personal aesthetic—all in a creative and fun environment.

Wet Paint

Grades 7 - 12
March 27 - May 15, 2019 | Wednesdays 4:15 p.m .- 6:15 p.m.

Through a variety of painting techniques, artists will build their skills using watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paint. They will gain expertise building a color palette, explore wet-on-wet techniques, and add salt and crayon to create texture—and much more!

Composition by Design

Grades 3 - 6

Through the elements of art and principles of design, students will discover new ways to plan interesting compositions for their portfolios. In addition to viewing important works of art and understanding why the compositions are successful, students will use a variety of media including graphite, conté crayon, colored pencil, oil pastel, and collage to create still life, portrait, and abstract works of art.
