What is your philosophy?“It’s not just about creativity; it’s about the person you are becoming while creating.” ~Charlie Peacock.
It is more important for my students to learn to be kind and respectful than to be amazing theatre practitioners. Mutual respect and kindness are highly valued for my life and classroom.
What’s one professional achievement you’re most proud of? When I first started at FWAFA nearly 23 years ago, I was a one-woman theatre educator. I relied on my husband, other parents, and faculty to help with production elements of our shows – in those days, a musical, a play, and some class presentations. Twenty-three years later, we have seven faculty members (eight, since we claim Mr. Cooper, my former student and our tech director!) and our program has grown into the largest on our campus. Very proud indeed!
Do you have any hidden talents or skills? What are they? I can organize ANYTHING! And, I’m pretty handy with a computer.
Favorite Artist (musician, writer, director, painter, etc.):Too many to list! I have very eclectic tastes – love piano music, Beatles, Broadway tunes, classical; pop (Charlie Puth!) and more; Artists: Monet, Renoir, Norman Rockwell, Banksy, William Hartnett; Directors: Jodie Foster, Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Susan Stroman.
What are your hobbies? Being a leader for Texas Thespians
