What do you love most about this school? There is something magical here, such that it cannot be touched or named, but I have always felt a protective, safe guiding force around the school and the people inside.

What is your philosophy? People are always doing the best they can with what they have at any given moment – with kindness, respect, and total honesty a teacher can help others see this truth about themselves.

What’s the most exciting thing about you that most people don’t know?
1) I owned my own technical training / consulting company for over 20 years.  I have taught in the Sears Tower in Chicago, on Park Avenue in NYC, and many other cool places.  I was named Worldwide Instructor of the Year by Motorola University after being nominated by four individual Motorola locations.
 2) I worked as personal care attendant in college for Rick Hoyt who was a non-verbal quadriplegic who became somewhat famous (google Team Hoyt). This role enabled me to work directly with his mom, Judy Hoyt – an amazing mom, teacher and one of the original advocates to pass Chapter 766 in Massachusetts – a law that is now national and known as the American Disabilities Act.  To have learned from one of the pioneers of the work I do now is very exciting to me!

What’s the most exciting part of your current job role? Seeing the relationships with students begin to take shape now I am no longer a rookie! When they trust me with their fears and goals and allow me to guide them, I know I am in the right place.

What’s one professional achievement you’re most proud of? Getting my bachelor’s degree as the first in my family (siblings and all cousins on both sides) with no financial and very little emotional support – it was hard, but I found my way.  I must have done something right because last spring I was one of four to receive a full scholarship to get my master’s at TCU (go frogs!)
